I first designed this hat for our friend whose totem animal is an octopus ever since he came to a costumed party with a dead octopus on his head… So an octopus themed hat was in order for his birthday of course !! (In french poulpe=octopus, so “Poulpy” is now his nickname)

* Instructions are included for the hat and 2 sizes of octopus appliquà©.

* The mama or baby octopus appliquà© can easily be buttoned on or off, for that CRAZY look or a more casual everyday hat. You gotta love those dangly tentacles ! :-)

* Worked in super comfy Malabrigo Merino worsted yarn, this hat is a dream to wear and stretches easily to fit virtually any size. It even fits my 5-year-old daughter !

* You’ll need:
– about 50 g of worsted weight yarn in the main color
– plus remnants of a contrasting color yarn in similar weight (bouclà© yarn works great for a funky look)
– 5 mm (H8) and 5.5 mm (I9) hooks
– 2 buttons
