Altay Hats

Today both girls were at school or daycare, and for once we took the afternoon off to go skiing, just the 2 of us.

It was probably a year or two since we last skied together without having the girls with us. Also, it was my first “real time” skiing with my new telemarks… That was great ! :-D

And Laurent was nice and took lots of pics of my Altay hats ! :-D

Oh, and the name btw ? The Altay is a beautiful range of mountains right between Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. During a sidecar motorcycle trip some years ago, we discovered this remote area of the world. Because we had to meet friends later in Irkutsk we stayed there very shortly but it left us an amazing impression. As in the summum of beauty, serenity .. and we met amazing people there too (can’t even find all my pics again, might try again tomorrow).

The Altay mountains are still very dear to us. And this hat design, with its slight himalayan and budhist look (esp. when you look at it from the side and back) reminded me of this area. :-)
