Pretty leather projects, perfect for Birthdays !
June is the month of birthdays around here.
Birthday parties for both my daughters.. which means parties to organise, and activities to think of. This year I decided to offer mini-workshops for my daughter’s guests. I wanted to make something quick and pretty with leather, using not too much material and easy to make for little ones with potentially no previous experience in sewing..
Here’s what I came up with : Flower bracelets made with pretty colorful leather. Both daughters loved them, so that’s what we did. :-)
The girls chose their colors, traced the template onto the leather, cut the pieces, stitched a few stitches… I helped only with the holes to pierce and press studs to install at the end.
Et voilą !! Beautiful wrist adornments for each little lady ! We all had fun, and I was glad to see them so happy with their creations.
Those last months, my older daughter was also invited to several birthday parties. Have a look at the gifts my talented 9-years-old made for her friends (yes I’m a proud mama) :
A mini book cover she designed and made all by herself for friend lą©a.
A fabulous mini bag she made and designed, also all by herself, for another friend’s birthday. (we all LOVED the outcome !!)
And finally, a coin purse she made (using my own templates this time) for her teacher as a goodbye gift, as school is now over: she was so sad to leave her teacher !

Wow. Impressive. We have an expression to describe this where the child demonstrates the known skills of the parent. You may be familiar with it or something like it:
‘The apple does not fall far from the tree.’
or less romantically….
‘She did not lick that off a stone.’
