Skirt, Ruby doll and hooded cardi
Holidays are upon us, and it’s snowy and cold outside: more reasons to stay warm inside and craft away:-)
I finished sewing Nell’s new skirt, and she wore it yesterday with all the family. I was proud, and got a few compliments too. Of course Plume asks for hers now !
I also started a Ruby doll. My first doll ever, but it looked simple enough. I was really scared of the embroidery part on the face, but keeping it close to the model, I’m surprised I managed to make it look really pretty. And what a difference it made on the doll !! From a frumpy shapeless little thing to an actual doll!!
I’m now having fun adding a few details and an apron. Plume keeps asking “who is it going to be for ? I really love it..” But she’s not having it, at least until she can take care of her toys and things instead of walking on them… :-P
(on a side note, so frustrated I can’t upload those on Ravelry. Is there any such things for sewing ?!! :-P)
Oh, and I grabbed a few more skeins of that blue yarn in Grenoble last week and continued working on my hooded cardigan. Uho, I’m so pleased that it looks exactly as planned. :-D Except that it may fit Nell instead of Plume, but I can deal with that. And making a second one will be an occasion to test the pattern. :-) I will probably take it along to my in-laws later this week. Hopefully I will reveal the whole design next time !

There is a site called Pattern Review (PR) which is a bit like Ravelry for sewists but the interface and functionality are no way near as nice. The sewing community really needs a person/people to start a Ravelry-like site; actually it is a much bigger community/industry than hand-knitting and crocheting.
In the meantime…..there are some groups on Ravelry for people who also sew.

Hi there! I came across you blog via your youtube video for the mother marion kick wheel. First of all, I’d like to say thank you for that. I’ve just purchased one, and as a complete newbie spinner I’m happy to find all that I can on it’s use. Second, I’d like to comment on your quest for a place to share sewing projects.
