Slowly getting back to normal life, spinning etc..

So, I’ve been resting a lot this week, taking naps, spinning some, reading some, and slowly going back to normal life. The operation went really well, and apart from tiredness the first days and more fragile vocal cords (they’re close to the thyroid and probably got a bit disturbed by this new configuration in my neck), I’m all good.

I started a new artyarn with some beautiful batts sent by Christina in the Fiber Swap Club. As usual, I’m doing some thick-and-thin autowrapped singles, along with cocoons here and there and a few added metal hearts. The huge cone of laceweights comes from my local thrifstore (just as the orange did, I boughts tons of them in different colors, and so glad I did).

I visited my friend Berry the other day (so cool to have a fellow crochet designer around, we always talk about tons of stuff, on top of she being such a cool friend) and she said she never got around actually spinning the roving I had dyed for her. Funny how some people immediately fall in love with spinning, and others don’t. So anyways, I spun the roving for her and will bring it back to her.. She’s in love with Colinette yarns so I tried to do a simple thick-and-thin, ра la Point Five.. :-) The little bit of plied yarn below is the yarn we had spun and plied together when I showed her the technique.

My friend E. should be giving birth to her firstborn little boy anyday now (unless she already did, haven’t heard from her for 2 days) and she asked me to crochet her a little granny square blankie. That was a great project to work on at the clinic ! :-) I didn’t do all those squares there though, even though I did get a lot of interest from several nurses “oh, I used to crochet, but now I don’t any more” etc.. :-) I still have to do a dozen of squares or so. Using dk yarns from the stash, which I’ll join in sc with a beautiful bright blue that’s too fine to be used for the squares : it will add a nice contrast, plus the fact that it’s thinner means it’s not producing such an ugly ridge. :-)

Maud is growing a lot, soon she’ll be 3 and go to school just like Prune. And she can’t wait… So as I made her big’sis another Roselette, I thought it’d be time for her to have another one as well. Instead of crocheting yet another one, she’s having this one that never sold. I know I’m pricing my handmade items quite high, but honestly there’s a lot of work in each one, plus they’re made with beautiful (and pricey) yarns, so I’d really not sell them than selling them cheap. I always find a good use for them in the end anyways ! :-) (and so glad that both girls really love their handmade-by-mummy sweaters!)

Will now try to list some new things on Etsy, including those vintage french spindles, plus some handspun yarns and roving… Etsy is just sooo tempting : I need more yarn money.. :-D (and need to make room in our tiny appartment too, Laurent is regularly getting nuts with all this wool around)
