First days at school and new hat

Posted: Monday, September 7th, 2009 @ 9:18 pm in Family, Knitting, WIP | 1 Comment »

Both girls are now going to school here in Vercors. Prune loves her new school and Maud is doing ok (she even went all day today). That leaves me lots of time to work during the day, wow.
We did the usual first-day-of-school shot, but of course miss prune can’t stay still so she’s all blurry… [...]

Handspun cuff, purple Gudule… and Packing !

Last week we went away for a few days with the girls to my granmother’s chalet, as it’s hard to keep them busy here in our tiny appartment. I brought a few projects with me and although I didn’t do half as much as expected, I still have a couple (unfinished) things to show.
I [...]

Knitting: the old and the new…

Posted: Saturday, August 1st, 2009 @ 6:41 pm in Knitting, chezPlum Patterns | No Comments »

Sometimes I wish I could work on my patterns and ChezPlum thing all day. But on the other hand, I’d be too afraid to get bored with it as soon as it became an obligation with pressure (as in, with goal to make money). So, I’m happy with the way it is so far, and [...]

First I wanted to say Hi to all the people coming from Craftzine ! I hope you’ll enjoy the Headband pattern :-D
A series of mistakes has been brought to my attention in the XL size of the Violaine top. Oops, sorry about that, I thought I had double-checked all the numbers but I guess [...]

This week we’ve been away, house-sitting a beautiful place in Vercors (where we’re dreaming of moving to within a couple years) and taking care of the cats. As you can see, it’s not too shaby.. ;-) Great for the girls who can play outside all day, and great for the parents who can relax [...]

Annie Modessitt is preparing a book called 1000 hats for which she’s collecting pictures of hats. The deadline was July 1st and it was a good motivation to finally take pictures of hats I made ages ago, or just better pics of hats made last winter…

Those Disco berets really needed [...]

Tutorial: How I make my knitting charts for lace

Posted: Thursday, June 11th, 2009 @ 9:25 pm in Knitting, Tutorial | 9 Comments »

So, a couple weeks ago I showed a glimpse of the knitting chart I was working on. I finally took the time to make a little tutorial and explain the way I did it. I hope it’s clear enough, or feel free to ask your questions ! (Click for larger pics !!)
This one will [...]

On japanese knitting (and crochet) books

Posted: Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 @ 3:30 pm in Knitting, book review | 1 Comment »

Like many before, I have succumbed. I bought several japanese craft books on Etsy (very easy, and some nice sellers will get you any book you ask for).
The charts are very easy to follow if you’ve ever worked with charts before, and there’s usually plenty of pictures in how-to sections at the begining/end of the [...]

My first knitting charts…

I’ve been working on a secret project for several months now, swatching and thinking A LOT about different issues involved with the construction. I’d be turning it around in my head during the night, still not fully satisfied with the way I had planned it.
And suddenly I found the solution (ahem, let’s hope it turns [...]

Taking it one step further

Since I told my family about my new passion for spinning, a couple people said they’d ask friends/neighbouts about raw wool from their sheep. And this is what I just from my Sister in Law, about a pound of raw wool from one of her work colleagues !! So cool !! (I asked for [...]
