I crocheted 2 new hats for myself lately. The first one HAD to be once I figured out a pretty daisy motif (slighlty modified from a vintage “monTricot” stitch dictionary) for a cardigan for my niece. It just came out so pretty that I had to turn it into a hat. The yarn is some Malabrigo merino which I had overdyed a while ago: from bright yellow it became this happy lime green, which suits my style & taste much better. Unfortunately I would have needed just a few extra meters to add one missing row, in order to cover my ears perfectly… but that extra row was added in the pattern.

The pattern for the marguerite hat is now available for purchase, for the usual $5. Instructions are included for 2 sizes, to fit an adult and child’s head. Pictures coming of my girls with the one I made in the smaller size ;-)

I also made a second spiral hat, this time (ahem, didn’t blog the first one yet) with all the modifications needed in the first one. It looks cleaner, and fits better. The embroidered spiral is surface-crocheted with a mohair yarn, first freestyle then along relief ridges round to the very top of the hat. I’ll try to work on the pattern for this one asap…. and, ahem, take better pics ! :-)

Oh, and Craftsy has just launched their new “indie pattern” feature. Go and have a look at my new pattern store there: I love that I can also sell my sewing and felting patterns there ! :-)
