1000KnitHats P1173248
This is kind of old news, but 1,000 Fabulous Knit Hats by Annie Modesitt is now apparently available for purchase, even in brick and mortars stores !!! I haven’t received my contributor copy yet, but you should see my Altay hat in it, along with the instructions to make your own. Also, there should be a number of my other hats in the book, but without the patterns this time.
… I’m thrilled to finally have a book listed in my designer profile in Ravelry ! :-)

I’ll take time for a review (and probably a giveaway for a copy) when I receive it, so stay tuned ! :-)

PopoverDress PopoverDress2
And here are a few pics of the dress I made yesterday. I used the “Popover sundress” free pattern from Oliverands (found via Burdastyle). Was easy enough for a beginner like me, although I couldn’t find any info on whether seam allowance was included or not (is it me ?). Turns out it was, so I had to recut the extra fabric during the process.
I didn’t double the length of the straps, so I added buttons instead of the knots. And I added a little appliquà© flower (cut from main fabric) to the top of the dress. All the fabric is repurposed btw, so it’s a cheap project.. :-)
Finally, turns out that the the sizes are pretty large. I made a size 8 for Plume who is quite tall for her age and often wears size 8 clothes. But really this dress looks huge for her, especially around the armholes. Nearly looks like a tunic for myself !! :-)
So. I will probably try again in size 6. Should be quicker this time too …

And all in all, I’m very happy with this dress, even if it doesn’t fit Plume. I believe it’s the first time I followed a sewing pattern AND the result looks like it was meant to. Also, I’m thrilled that my sewing machine now works like a dream and that my seams look totally right. (they used to be ugly, with huge problems of tension). I’m now thinking of sewing all day (although I still have a couple things on my hooks, don’t worry), looking at sewing patterns and books on Etsy. And sewing is a nice craft for summer ! :-)
