Upcycling art
(see that super cool crochet tote in the background..? ;-)
Last week was Prune’s “fàªte de l’à©cole”, kind of an open day to celebrate the end of the school year and show what the kids did. All the classes worked on recycling this year, visiting an expo of artwork made with recycled material, learning about recycling etc…
I saw some of the work Prune did in school during the year, but was totally amazed to see the final expo of all the things each class made. Seriously.
First I loved those garlands (click for larger pic), made of plastic bags (top little triangle flags), yogurt and other plastic containers cut up, and bottle caps. We are SO going to make some with the girls this summer. The “kebabs” were … we’ll say colorfull ! :-)
Prune’s class worked on music instruments, and they made andean flutes. The large one may not be very functional but I love the idea of the small ones, made with old felt tip pens cut up in different shapes and simply taped together. (it even produce some kind of music if you try hard enough). Again, such an easy project with kids around, and we all have old felt-tip pens around.
But the project I was most amazed by was those cats. Seriously, would you expect that from a class 4/5-year olds ? That teacher is very creative (she was Prune’s teacher last year, the one I made a disco beret for) but she’s amazed me once more. Shows what you can do with simple detergent jugs and a little black paint …
There was lots of great things, but I’ll show just those: bears made with bark and stalemate, cars made with milk cartons and plastic bottles..
A mammoth and a giraffe…
and finally great little guys made of anything you could think of, pencils, bolts and nails, copper wire.. even yarn ! :-)
I’m sure it won’t look half as nice in those crappy pics, but honestly I found it very inspiring in terms of upcycling ! :-)
