Mother’s day, 3 years and Flower grannies..

Sunday was Mother’s day here in France. I had the best day, with Laurent taking care of everything in the house .. and I was just to do whatever I wished !! :-D which of course included time in front of the computer, and some crocheting…

He did a great general cleanup of the flat, added more shelves in the girl’s cupboard (much needed and much delayed), and cooked the best meal: he mixed a couple online recipes and made us an “indian ratatouille“, which I totally loved, so tasty and yummy !! I hope he’ll cook more of it, but if you’d like to try, he said he basically made a regular ratatouille, chopping the veggies very thin so they’d melt, and seasoned it with ginger and nutmeg instead of the usual “herbes de Provence”. I highly recommend it ! :-)
Prune gave me a great beaded bracelet which she made at school. I love it so much that I wear it all the time. Which led her to ask “mum, why do you wear it all the time ?” yesterday.. ;-)
And last but not least, we celebrated Maud’s birthday: she’s 3 now !! She just needs to learn not to draw on her shirt ! ;-)

After discovering very inspiring crochet blogs recently, I’ve been slightly obsessed with flower granny squares. I know. Flower grannie can be totally kitsch. But they can be pretty too.
I started experimenting with Rose Hip’s free Flower square (the all pink one). But I don’t think I used the right yarn and the flower doesn’t pop half as much as it should. Anyways, I started experimenting with my own flower granny, which is both easy and pretty, with lots of relief. Now I’m trying to decide which projects those will be used for. I have some ideas already…
And finally, look at the fabulous package I received this morning from the Rav’ Fiber swap club: She so totally understood my colors !! The braid is shetland, and there’s also all sorts of tops and fleece of different breeds.. I’m sure to love to spin those !! :-D
