Vacations in the chalet, needle felting and other FOs…

Arghh, I meant to show you a little experiment I made with Malabrigo (basically to see if the yarn pills as much when knitted vs crocheted) but it seems I forgot the little mitts I made in the chalet !! :-/ I guess I’m always forgetting something when coming home from vacations !! :-P forget what I said, I found them in my spinning bag !! :-D Will blog them soon.

Here are some things I finished during my vacation away: Prune new Roselette sweater in the new 6-year-old size (should publish the revised pattern this week btw). I made it with recycled acrylic yarns so it’s going to be fully machine-washable ! :-D It suits here fine, she should be wearing this one a couple more years… (and look at her playing silly for the pics, couldn’t even get her to stand still thus the blurry pics !)

The little sweater for our friend’s son is nearly done, except for the finishing. I’m also doing a pair of Sylver’s pretty Little Button Loafers (yep, still need to finish the second one), and I’ll use the design of the shoes to personalize the jacket… Now I need to find green buttons too !

Yesterday was SnB night, and I brought my new toys along: yep, I’m learning to needle-felt (pictured is my friend Jette making a pretty little leaf while waiting for Emily to arrive). So far I’m not really quite there, but learning …and watching tutorials and videos on Youtube. Once again, there will be so many possibilities ! I’m not planning any animals or creatures (yet) but I want to make little appliquà©s and hearts/flowers/stars/shapes to add to future art yarns. And certainly will try embelishing sweaters and purses ect….

Oh, and last but not least, here are the promised pics from our week away. It was great and very relaxing (I realised how tired I actually was). I took very few photos this time, but we had great afternoons skiing with the girls and hanging out with our cousins (here eating crepes). Laurent went ski-touring nearly everyday which was great for him, and he started to teach our friend to crochet (shhh, he told me not to blog about it, but yep he asked me to show him a couple weeks ago and it’s been really weird to explain all the ins-and-outs of crochet and see him practise real hard.. I can’t wait to see him make his first hat or whatever… In case you wonder btw, he suddenly wanted to learn some needlecrafs as part of “survival skills”. He’s a smart one. Have I already told you he’s very good with a sewing machine ?!!)

The girls played silly in the snow, Prune did some nordic skiing in the garden, Maud tried snowshoeing… And I had a great time nordic skiing right in front of the chalet. It’s been a few years since there hadn’t been enough snow to be able to do so ! :-)

Oh, and we had the best time playing with a little pompom kit, creating great creatures. I’m especially in awe of Prune’s bird (the one with the huge crest and feather wings), which she designed entirely by herself.

The rosette looks great! Kid crafting usually amazes me! I love the way kids always show personal style even with the simplest of crafts!
